Palau Honoured at Diplomatic Travel Awards 2025: A Landmark Recognition for Global Diplomacy and Tourism Excellence

New Delhi – The Republic of Palau, a pristine island nation in the Pacific Ocean, was honoured with the prestigious “Believe in Making a Landmark – Bimal Mehra” award at the Diplomatic Travel Awards 2025, hosted by Travel Jingles at The Grand New Delhi. The event witnessed participation from over 42 diplomatic missions, members of the international hospitality sector, luxury travel operators, and dignitaries from across the globe.

The award was presented by H.E. Alem Tsehaye Woldemariam, Ambassador of Eritrea in India and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Hitasha Mehra of Travel Jingle Magazine in recognition of Palau’s remarkable strides in tourism, sustainability, and global partnerships over the past year. Palau has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to inclusive development, marine conservation, and fostering people-to-people diplomacy.

Receiving the honour on behalf of the Republic of Palau was Hon’ble Dr. Neeraj A. Sharma, the Honorary Consul General of Palau to India. Under Dr. Sharma’s stewardship, Indo-Palau relations have reached new heights. His visionary leadership has helped position Palau as a strategic partner in sectors such as sustainable tourism, civil aviation, trade collaboration, and education.

Palau’s re-elected President Surangel Whipps Jr., is taking some large strides and bold decisions to bring back tourist from across the globe with a special focus on India. He envisages to bring in more destination weddings from India to Palau. Palau has one of the most pristine tourist destination for people across the world with its Jelly fish lakes, WW II remains, authentic local cuisines, culture and traditions.

Neeraj Sharma holds key leadership roles in various institutions and consular forums and continues to promote Palau’s interests globally. His efforts have not only amplified the visibility of Palau in South Asia but also solidified its presence in global diplomatic corridors.

This recognition is not only a celebration of Palau’s achievements but also a reaffirmation of India-Palau friendship and their shared values of inclusivity, sustainability, and cross-cultural cooperation.
