Theater, a Mumbai fashion brand that sits just above the mass market and just below imported luxury, has raised Rs 75 crore in a Series A round at a post-money valuation of Rs 410 crore. The round was led by Niveshaay, with new investor Physis Capital and existing investor Prath Ventures joining in.
Footwear, bags and 8X growth
Founded in 2021 by Sarthak Aggarwal, Vikram Jain, Karan Jain and Shruti Aggarwal, Theater sells design led western fashion across footwear, stockings, perfumes and bags. The company says it has scaled 8X over the past two years, driven by a growing customer base and a sharp focus on profitability.
Its positioning is the interesting bit. Theater describes itself as sitting between imported luxury and mass market basics, which is the zone where Indian shoppers who want good design but not a Rs 20,000 price tag tend to shop.

Offline is the next bet
The fresh capital will go into offline expansion, building a physical retail presence across Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities. The company also plans to step up brand building with celebrity partnerships and marketing activations as it moves from an online first brand to one that customers can walk into.

The brand had earlier raised $1.5 million in a pre Series A round led by Prath Ventures in September 2024, and Entrackr had reported this round a day before the announcement.
A crowded shelf
The design led fashion space in India has become busy. Snitch raised Rs 278.9 crore in a Series B round, The Bear House picked up Rs 50 crore in Series A, MyDesignation raised Rs 40 crore in Series A, Miraggio brought in $6.5 million, and Alaya by Stage3 raised seed money to scale its ethnic wear business. Everyone is chasing the same young shopper who scrolls Instagram for style ideas.
Why it matters
Indian fashion has long had two ends, cheap and imported expensive, with very little worth buying in between. That middle shelf is where the real volume sits, and it is why so many brands are now fighting for it. Theater’s claim of growing 8X while keeping an eye on profit is what earned it this cheque. The harder test starts now, because running stores means rent, staff and unsold stock, three costs an online only brand never has to think about.
