Who Is Kushal Tanwar
Kushal Tanwar is a reality-show contestant who moved from MTV’s youth formats into a mainstream Hindi reality show. He is not an actor and does not come from a film family. His recognition comes from winning a Roadies season and from the content he posts as Gullu.
The nickname matters more than the name in search terms. Viewers who followed Roadies know him as Gullu, and Bigg Boss 20 introduced him to a much larger Hindi television audience under the same label.
Early Life and Family
Kushal Tanwar grew up outside the entertainment industry. According to his Economic Times contestant profile, he completed school and his early college years before moving into reality television and digital content.
He has spoken about his family on the show, including a difficult relationship with them after his marriage ended. Reports describe a modest, working-family background rather than a connected one.
The Roadies Double Cross Win
Kushal Tanwar won MTV Roadies XX, also called Roadies: Double Cross, in 2025. The season ran with gang leaders, and he was part of Elvish Yadav’s team. Winning a Roadies season as a first-time television face is unusual, because the format rewards physical tasks and camera presence equally.
The win gave him a fixed identity on television: a young contestant who could handle tasks and did not need a script. That is the identity he carried into Bigg Boss 20.
Splitsvilla and Other Shows
Before Bigg Boss 20, Kushal Tanwar appeared on MTV Splitsvilla. He was also on the show Maa Hain Na, according to the Economic Times profile. The Splitsvilla stint surprised viewers who had seen him only as a Roadies competitor, because the format is built on romantic pairings rather than tasks.
Those appearances kept him inside the MTV ecosystem for three years. That is how reality-TV careers usually compound in India. One show feeds the next casting call.
Content Creation and Instagram
His Instagram handle is @fun.with.gullu.g, and it is run with an official team. The bio lists his Roadies and Splitsvilla wins alongside his current Bigg Boss 20 stint. The account carries close to 1.9 million followers.
His content is short-form, built around his on-screen persona rather than polished production. That is a different skill from acting, and it explains why fan pages, not news outlets, drove most of his early coverage.
Bigg Boss 20 Journey
Kushal Tanwar entered the Bigg Boss 20 house on 6 September 2026 with 15 other contestants. Salman Khan returned as host, and the season was built around a theme called Vardaan. The house, designed by Varsha Jain, is spread across 10,000 square feet with 104 cameras.
He is one of the contestants viewers listed as a favourite early in the season, alongside Qazi Touqeer and Yung DSA, in fan discussions on Reddit. Inside the house, his Roadies background made him an obvious pick for tasks, and his age put him in the younger group.
His season has not been quiet. A physical confrontation with Nakul Dhull was widely discussed online, and clips from the house kept him in the trending conversation during the opening weeks.
Marriage and Divorce
On Bigg Boss 20, Kushal Tanwar confirmed that he married in 2024 and divorced within about five to six months. Viral wedding photographs from 2025 forced the subject into the open.
He said the relationship did not have love in it, and spoke about the fallout with his family after the separation. Reports from Daijiworld and the Times of India quote him saying that the marriage was short and that he has moved on.
He has not named his former wife publicly, and the divorce details are known only from what he said on the show.
Kushal Tanwar Height and Physical Stats
Kushal Tanwar has not publicly confirmed his height or weight. Bio profiles and fan pages list different figures, and none of them carry a direct source from him.
His build is that of a task-oriented reality contestant rather than a gym-focused influencer. On Roadies he competed in physical tasks across the season, and on Bigg Boss 20 he has been part of the house’s kitchen and task duties.
Kushal Tanwar Net Worth
Kushal Tanwar has not disclosed his net worth. Earnings estimates for reality contestants are not published by the shows, and no reliable figure exists for his Roadies prize, endorsement work or social media income.
What is measurable is reach. A following of roughly 1.9 million on Instagram is the main commercial asset, and Bigg Boss 20 adds television exposure that usually converts into brand work after the season ends.
Girlfriend and Relationships
Kushal Tanwar has not publicly confirmed a girlfriend since his divorce. He is single as far as his own statements on Bigg Boss 20 go, and he has not linked himself to any co-contestant.
Fan pages routinely pair him with other contestants, which is normal for the format. None of those pairings has been confirmed by him or by the people named.
Why Gullu Became the Bigger Name
The nickname Gullu came before the television career and stuck because it was easier to search and repeat. On Roadies and Splitsvilla, the show itself used Gullu more often than Kushal, and the Bigg Boss 20 broadcast has followed the same pattern.
For someone building a personal brand, that is an advantage and a limit. A nickname is memorable, but it competes with the real name in search results, which is why most articles now carry both.
