iQOO has finally answered the question its fans have been asking for months. The iQOO 16 is coming to India, the company has confirmed. It has not yet shared a launch date or a price.
Nipun Marya of iQOO India confirmed the launch to Qualcomm’s Saurabh Arora. He said the brand had received hundreds of messages asking whether the phone would follow its China debut.
What iQOO has confirmed so far
The iQOO 16 will pair the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 with OriginOS 7 and iQOO’s M16 display. That 2K panel runs at 165Hz, which the company calls the only one of its kind in the world.

Marya also teased “very surprising, very unique” AI features, but would not say more. Asked whether the launch would land in late October or November, iQOO stayed quiet. India specifications were not discussed either.

Why iQOO picked the Extreme chip
iQOO has used Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon silicon in every flagship since the brand arrived in 2020. Marya said no other brand can claim that.
He acknowledged a cost difference between the Extreme and non-Extreme versions. But a flagship has to live up to its name, he said. He described the iQOO 16 as a “complete flagship experience” that goes beyond raw CPU and GPU power.
What Qualcomm says about its two Elite chips
This generation is the first in which Qualcomm has launched two Elite chipsets at once. Arora said both share the same foundation, and that the non-Extreme version is not a lesser product.
Arora called the Extreme part the “pinnacle of every element of a chipset”. He pointed to its latest CPU and the strongest NPU Qualcomm has built. The chip targets agentic AI, where a phone anticipates what you need instead of waiting to be asked.
His example: after dinner, a phone that reads context could message the valet or book a cab on its own. The chip carries an always-on, low-power sensing hub to keep it aware of its surroundings.
Why a 5GHz CPU matters for AI
The Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 is the first mobile CPU to touch 5GHz in benchmarks, according to Qualcomm. It uses two prime cores and six performance cores. A new cache arrangement lets them work together without waiting on each other.
Arora argued that CPU speed matters more in the agentic AI era than it seems. The CPU is what invokes AI agents, so a fast one keeps that from lagging when an agent is called.
Two things remain unknown: the launch date and price. In China the phone starts at CNY 5,999, roughly Rs 86,000. That is 43 per cent above the iQOO 15’s launch price there. A tipster has suggested an India price near Rs 1 lakh.
