Renewable energy services startup GreenTech has raised ₹30 crore in a funding round led by climate-focused investor Transition VC. This marks the company’s first institutional funding and is a mix of equity and debt. The fresh capital is expected to significantly accelerate GreenTech’s growth plans as it deepens its presence in India’s rapidly expanding wind energy ecosystem and explores overseas markets.
Founded in 2018, GreenTech operates in the wind turbine operations and maintenance (O&M) segment, offering end-to-end services aimed at improving turbine performance and extending asset life. Over the years, the company has built capabilities across predictive and preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, large component replacements, SCADA modernisation, blade inspections and in-house repair services spanning mechanical, electrical and electronic systems. Until this round, the startup had grown primarily through internal accruals and project-based revenues.
Focus on Technology-Led Growth and Market Expansion
According to the company, a major part of the ₹30 crore funding will be deployed towards strengthening its technology platform. GreenTech is working on advanced data analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning tools to improve predictive maintenance and real-time performance monitoring of wind turbines. By identifying potential equipment failures early and optimising operational efficiency, the company aims to help wind asset owners reduce downtime and lower long-term maintenance costs.
In addition to technology development, the capital will also support GreenTech’s infrastructure expansion. The startup plans to scale its service hubs, improve availability of critical spare parts and build a stronger on-ground workforce to handle larger turbine fleets. While India remains a key focus market, the company is also looking to expand into select international regions, especially parts of Southeast Asia and North Africa, where ageing wind assets are creating demand for independent O&M service providers.
Tapping Opportunities Beyond OEM-Led Maintenance
The wind energy sector is witnessing a shift as several projects move beyond original equipment manufacturer warranty periods. This change is opening up opportunities for independent O&M players who can offer flexible, data-driven and cost-effective solutions. GreenTech positions itself as a neutral service provider capable of managing multi-brand turbine portfolios, a growing requirement among wind farm owners and investors.
With India targeting aggressive renewable energy capacity additions, operational efficiency is becoming as important as new installations. Effective maintenance and performance optimisation directly impact power generation and revenue realisation for developers. GreenTech’s service-led model aims to address this need by combining engineering expertise with digital insights.
Founder’s Vision and Long-Term Outlook
Commenting on the milestone, founder Daniel Raj highlighted that the funding will allow the company to scale faster while continuing to invest in innovation. He emphasised the role of intelligent monitoring and predictive analytics in reshaping how wind assets are managed across their lifecycle.
Looking ahead, GreenTech plans to broaden its service portfolio, strengthen its analytics engines and build strategic partnerships across the renewable energy value chain. The startup also intends to invest in talent and training to support its expansion plans and maintain service quality as operations scale.
Boost for India’s Renewable Energy Services Ecosystem
The investment in GreenTech reflects growing investor interest in startups that address critical gaps in the renewable energy sector, particularly beyond power generation. As India works towards long-term clean energy goals, companies focused on reliability, efficiency and asset longevity are expected to play an increasingly important role.
With fresh capital and strong backing from Transition VC, GreenTech is now positioned to scale its operations, sharpen its technology edge and contribute meaningfully to the evolution of wind energy maintenance and management in India and other emerging markets.
