Drone logistics startup Skye Air Mobility has raised $9 million in a Series B funding round to strengthen its hyperlocal drone delivery operations and expand its presence across India. The round was led by IAN Alpha Fund, the venture capital arm of the Indian Angel Network Group, with participation from investors such as AVNM Ventures, Faad Capital, Bajaj Capital, and several angel investors.

The funding round has been structured in two parts. The company has already secured $4 million in the first tranche, while the remaining $5 million is expected to be raised in the second tranche. The fresh capital will help the startup scale its operations, strengthen its technology infrastructure, and build a larger drone delivery network.

Founded in 2019 by Ankit Kumar, Skye Air Mobility focuses on building a technology-driven platform for fast and efficient drone-based logistics. The company aims to solve last-mile delivery challenges by using autonomous drones combined with smart airspace management systems.

Expansion into Multiple Cities

With the new investment, Skye Air Mobility plans to expand its drone delivery services beyond Delhi-NCR into major Indian cities including Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, and Kolkata over the next 18 months. The startup intends to increase its drone fleet and improve its operational capabilities to handle growing demand from businesses.

The company will also invest in improving its proprietary technology platforms, including Skye UTM, which manages drone traffic and ensures safe operations in urban airspace. This technology helps coordinate multiple drones and enables efficient route planning for deliveries.

Growing Demand for Drone Logistics

Skye Air Mobility has already demonstrated strong growth in its operations. The startup claims to have completed more than 3.6 million drone deliveries across different sectors. Its drones are capable of carrying payloads of up to 10 kilograms and are used for deliveries in industries such as e-commerce, quick commerce, healthcare, and industrial supply chains.

With the rapid growth of e-commerce and demand for faster deliveries, drone logistics is emerging as a promising solution in India. Through this funding round, Skye Air Mobility aims to strengthen its position as a leading drone delivery platform and play a key role in shaping the future of last-mile logistics in the country.
