Origin has raised USD 20 million, or about Rs 189 crore, in a funding round co-led by Accel and Zacua Ventures. The robotics startup is emerging from stealth mode with the raise.

Unilazer Ventures, Schema Ventures and Z21 also participated. Angel investors from Anduril, Skild AI, 1X and Tesla joined the round as well.

What Origin Builds

Origin was founded in 2025 by Yogesh Ghaturle, Ashish Daga and Tushar Makkar. The startup is headquartered in the United States and develops autonomous robotics for construction work.

Its flagship machine is the OG-1, which handles wall finishing tasks. It applies compound, sands surfaces and primes walls without a human operator.

Those tasks are repetitive and physically demanding. Construction firms struggle to find workers for them, which is the shortage Origin is selling into. The company claims its robots work three times faster than a human.

The Technology Under It

The OG-1 runs on a proprietary foundation model that Origin calls a construction action model. It has three parts.

A reasoning system plans complex sub-tasks. An action policy helps the robot navigate on its own. A controller handles feedback-driven movement.

That combination is what separates the OG-1 from fixed automation. A robot that only repeats one motion needs a fixed setup. One that plans and navigates can be dropped into a live site.

Where It Is Working

Origin says it has already deployed its robots at construction sites in New York. Its machines are also being used across commercial spaces, apartments, data centres, hotels and warehouses.

Data centres stand out on that list. They are being built at a rapid pace. Finishing work is one of the stages that holds a project back when crews are short.

What The Money Does

The fresh capital will mainly go into deploying its robotics fleet. A large part will fund large-scale pilots with customers in the United States and Europe. The rest will explore new use cases for the machines.

Origin plans to have 150 robots deployed by the end of 2027. It is also exploring pilots in Germany, Sweden, France and Saudi Arabia. Zacua is expected to help here through its network of contractors, developers and manufacturers.

Yogesh Ghaturle, co-founder and CEO, described the company as a time machine for construction. He said wall finishing and painting are only the first trades. The ambition is to automate the full range of interior trades.

The global construction robotics sector is projected to become a USD 12 billion opportunity by 2036. Labour shortages, not labour costs, are the main reason buyers are looking at it now.
