Mumbai-based fresh food startup Pluckk is set to raise Rs 100 crore (approximately $11 million) in a fresh funding round led by its existing backer Euro Gulf Investment. The development comes at a time when India’s farm-to-fork and direct-to-consumer grocery space is witnessing a fresh wave of consolidation and focused growth.

According to regulatory filings, the company’s board has approved the issuance of 3,471 Series C Compulsorily Convertible Preference Shares (CCPS) at a price of Rs 2,88,112 per share, aggregating to Rs 100 crore. The capital infusion reflects continued investor confidence in Pluckk’s differentiated approach to the fresh produce and lifestyle food market.

Founded in 2021 by Pratik Gupta, Pluckk operates on a tech-enabled farm-to-consumer model, offering fresh fruits, vegetables, and curated food categories tailored to urban health-conscious buyers. Over the last few years, the startup has positioned itself as more than just a fresh produce supplier by expanding into ready-to-eat and nutrition-focused categories.

Pluckk’s Funding Utilisation and Expansion Strategy

The newly raised capital is expected to support expansion initiatives, strengthen supply chain capabilities, and service interest obligations on existing financial instruments. With this round, the company’s post-money valuation is estimated to be around $58 million.

Pluckk has previously raised nearly $15 million in funding, including backing from Exponentia Ventures. Strategic acquisitions have also played a key role in its growth journey. The startup acquired meal kit brand KOOK and nutrition-focused brand Upnourish, helping it broaden its portfolio beyond core fruits and vegetables.

This diversified approach allows Pluckk to tap into the fast-growing demand for convenient and healthy food options among India’s working professionals and young families.

Financial Performance and Competitive Landscape

For the financial year ending March 2025, Pluckk reported revenue of approximately Rs 85 crore, nearly doubling from the previous fiscal year. However, like many startups in the fresh commerce space, it also saw losses widen to Rs 55 crore compared to around Rs 41 crore in the preceding year.

The fresh produce and online grocery segment has historically been challenging due to thin margins, supply chain complexities, and high customer acquisition costs. Several funded players such as Otipy, Deep Rooted, and Fraazo have faced operational hurdles in recent years.

At the same time, startups like Kisankonnect continue to compete in the farm-to-consumer space, making differentiation and operational efficiency critical factors for survival and growth.

Outlook for the Fresh Food Segment

Despite sector challenges, investor interest in curated and technology-driven fresh food platforms remains steady. Increasing awareness around healthy eating, traceable sourcing, and premium produce has created a niche but growing consumer base willing to pay for quality and convenience.

With this upcoming Rs 100 crore fundraise, Pluckk aims to strengthen its operations, deepen market penetration across Indian cities, and reinforce its brand positioning in the lifestyle food segment. If executed effectively, the fresh capital could help the company move closer to sustainable scale in a segment that continues to test even well-funded startups.

The latest round underscores that while the fresh produce market is demanding, investor appetite remains intact for startups that can balance growth with disciplined execution.
