Kolkata-based FMCG giant Emami has taken a major step towards strengthening its presence in the health and wellness space by acquiring Axiom Ayurveda in a deal worth around ₹200 crore. This move reflects the company’s growing focus on tapping into India’s rapidly expanding demand for natural and functional products.
A Strategic Expansion Move
With this deal, Emami will now own 100% of Axiom Ayurveda. The company had earlier picked up a minority stake in 2023, and this full acquisition shows its confidence in the brand’s growth potential. Axiom Ayurveda is best known for its aloe vera-based beverage brand “AloFrut” and a range of ayurvedic juices that have gained popularity among health-conscious consumers.
This acquisition is not just about adding a new brand to Emami’s portfolio. It is about entering a category that is seeing strong and consistent demand across India.
Riding the Health Wave
Over the past few years, Indian consumers have increasingly shifted towards healthier drink options and natural ingredients. Products like herbal juices, functional drinks, and ayurvedic formulations are no longer niche. They are becoming mainstream.
Emami seems to be aligning itself with this trend. By bringing Axiom Ayurveda fully under its umbrella, the company can scale up production, improve distribution, and reach a wider audience across both urban and rural markets.
Axiom Ayurveda has already crossed ₹100 crore in annual revenue, and under Emami’s leadership, it is expected to grow even faster. The strong distribution network and brand-building expertise of Emami could help Axiom products reach more shelves and households across the country.
Overall, this acquisition signals Emami’s clear intent to diversify beyond traditional personal care products and build a stronger presence in the future-focused wellness segment.
