TechnoSport, a rising Indian activewear brand, has announced an ambitious investment of ₹100 crore to establish a cutting-edge manufacturing facility in Odisha. The move was finalised during the Odisha-Tex 2025 event with a formal Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between TechnoSport and the Government of Odisha.
TechnoSport’s Vision: Changing the Game for Indian Activewear
The upcoming facility is designed to meet the surging demand for affordable, high-performance activewear across India and the global market. According to Sunil Jhunjhunwala, Co-Founder and Managing Director at TechnoSport, this project is more than just a factory—it’s a blueprint for the future of Indian manufacturing.
The advanced manufacturing unit will be strategically located in a world-class industrial estate, fully equipped with plug-and-play infrastructure. This setup will allow TechnoSport to scale up operations swiftly while maintaining high quality and cost-efficiency.
Bringing Jobs, Skills, and Growth to Odisha
The TechnoSport facility is expected to directly employ over 1,000 workers, significantly boosting local job opportunities. Impressively, more than 80% of these positions are expected to be filled by women, driving inclusive growth and empowering local communities.
But the development echoes far beyond just direct employment. The industrial estate hosting the facility is projected to support over 20,000 direct jobs overall and push exports above $100 million, while contributing a whopping ₹7,000 crore in domestic revenues.
Education Meets Industry
Recognising the importance of skill development, TechnoSport will set up a training centre in partnership with a regional university. This allows workers to pursue technical degrees and upskilling programmes alongside their jobs, giving them more freedom and mobility in their careers.
Tech for Good: Smart Factory, Green Energy
In line with India’s sustainability goals, the planned factory will operate using renewable energy and incorporate semi-automation with advanced traceability systems to ensure transparency and efficiency. Fabric waste won’t go to landfill—it will be sent for closed-loop recycling, supporting a greener economy.
Odisha: Fast Emerging as a Manufacturing Hotspot
With this investment, Odisha cements its status as a magnet for textile and apparel manufacturing in India. As more brands like TechnoSport choose the state for expansion, the impact will be felt nationwide—more jobs, stronger skills, and a home-grown activewear sector that can compete with global giants.
