PB Fintech, the parent company of Policybazaar and Paisabazaar, is back in the news after its co-founders sold shares worth around ₹665 crore through a block deal. While the sale led to a temporary fall in the company’s stock price, PB Fintech continues to report strong financial growth and is moving ahead with major expansion plans in healthcare and artificial intelligence (AI).
The latest share sale is part of a larger trend where founders and early investors have been reducing their stakes, even as the company continues to grow rapidly.
Founders Reduce Stakes Through Block Deal
In May 2026, PB Fintech co-founders Yashish Dahiya and Alok Bansal sold a total of 38 lakh shares through a block deal. The shares were sold at ₹1,751 each, taking the total value of the transaction to about ₹665 crore.
Yashish Dahiya sold 26 lakh shares worth over ₹455 crore, while Alok Bansal sold 12 lakh shares worth around ₹210 crore.
After the transaction, the combined shareholding of the two founders fell from 5.02% to around 4.2%. However, both continue to hold significant stakes in the company, showing their continued involvement in the business.
The shares were bought by several large institutional investors, including Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, BNP Paribas, Societe Generale, Tata Mutual Fund, Kotak Securities and the National Pension System Trust. Their participation reflects confidence in PB Fintech’s future growth.
Tencent and SoftBank Continue Their Exit
The founders’ share sale came shortly after Chinese technology giant Tencent completely exited PB Fintech. Tencent sold its remaining 1.05% stake for more than ₹805 crore.
Over the past year, Tencent had gradually reduced its investment in the company. Market experts believe the company is shifting its focus towards artificial intelligence and cloud computing businesses globally.
SoftBank has also reduced its stake in PB Fintech over the years. Earlier, the Japanese investment giant sold a 2.5% stake through a block deal worth around ₹914 crore.
Such exits are common among early investors who look to book profits after holding shares for several years.
PB Fintech Reports Strong Financial Results
Despite the stake sales by founders and investors, PB Fintech delivered strong financial results in FY26.
In the fourth quarter of FY26, the company reported a consolidated net profit of ₹261 crore, up 54% compared to the same period last year. Revenue from operations increased 37% to ₹2,061 crore.
For the full financial year, revenue reached ₹6,794 crore, while net profit rose to ₹670 crore.
Policybazaar remains the company’s biggest business segment, contributing more than 90% of its operating revenue. Insurance premium collections have grown strongly since the company’s stock market listing, showing the increasing popularity of online insurance purchases in India.
Paisabazaar also performed well during the year. The platform facilitated loan disbursals worth ₹31,000 crore and helped issue around 3.5 lakh credit cards. It now serves nearly 5.8 crore consumers who use its credit score services.
AI and Overseas Business Drive Growth
PB Fintech is investing heavily in artificial intelligence to improve customer service and business efficiency.
According to the company, its AI-powered sales tools have improved conversion rates by around 20% and increased average transaction values. Its AI assistant, Ask Genie, handles nearly one lakh customer queries every day and supports thousands of advisors.

The company is also seeing strong growth outside India. Policybazaar’s UAE business has expanded rapidly and has become an important growth area for the company. Looking ahead, PB Fintech has set a profit target of ₹1,000 crore for FY27. It also plans to increase its share in India’s retail health insurance market.
Big Healthcare Plans and Future Challenges
PB Fintech is now entering the healthcare sector through its subsidiary, PB Healthcare.
The company recently raised $218 million in funding for the venture. The money will be used to build a network of hospitals focused on diabetes care, weight management, heart disease treatment and early cancer detection.
The aim is to create a complete healthcare and insurance ecosystem where customers can get easier access to cashless treatment and faster claim settlements.
However, challenges remain. Some analysts believe the company’s valuation is still high compared to its earnings. Another concern is Bima Sugam, a proposed government-backed digital insurance platform that could increase competition in the insurance marketplace sector.
Even with these risks, PB Fintech’s strong financial performance, growing use of AI and ambitious expansion plans continue to make it one of India’s most closely watched fintech companies.
