Mumbai-based clean-label food startup Khetika has successfully raised $18 million (approximately Rs 154 crore) in a Series B funding round co-led by the Narotam Sekhsaria Family Office and Anicut Capital, with participation from existing investors including Incofin India Progress Fund, Rajasthan Gum, and Shree Ram India Gums.

About Khetika: Revolutionizing Clean-Label Food in India

Founded in 2017 by Prithwi Singh, Darshan Krishnamurthy, and Raghuveer Allada, Khetika is a pioneer in the clean-label food segment, offering preservative-free staples such as batters, chutneys, spices, millets, makhana, dry fruits, and rice. The startup operates on a robust farm-to-fork model, sourcing directly from over 25,000 farmers across 14 Indian states via its proprietary supply chain platform, SuperZop. This model not only ensures product purity but also combats food adulteration, a major concern in the Indian food industry.

Strategic Use of Funds: Scaling Production and Expanding Product Range

Khetika plans to utilize the fresh capital to:

  • Diversify its product portfolio by launching ready-to-eat and regional food items rooted in traditional recipes and natural processing techniques.

  • Upgrade manufacturing infrastructure by investing in automated processing units and localized hubs to maintain product freshness and reduce logistical delays.

  • Triple production capacity within 18 months, supported by new facilities such as a batter plant in Delhi and a spice processing unit in Unjha, Gujarat.

Technology-Driven Supply Chain Enhancements

A significant portion of the funding will be allocated to enhancing SuperZop’s technological capabilities. Planned upgrades include:

  • Real-time quality checks integrated into the supply chain.

  • Improved traceability features for consumers, including QR codes on packaging that reveal detailed information about where and when the product was grown and processed.

Expanding Market Reach: Domestic and International Growth

Khetika’s products are currently available through modern retail outlets, over 15,000 small stores, and leading e-commerce platforms such as Amazon, BigBasket, and Blinkit. Quick commerce channels contribute approximately 25% of the startup’s sales and represent its fastest-growing segment.

Looking ahead, Khetika aims to:

  • Expand into new Indian cities, targeting growth from 20 to 40 cities using a “nano plant” model.

  • Enter international markets including the Middle East, Europe, and the United States, where demand for high-quality Indian food products is rising.

  • Build stronger teams across innovation, marketing, and operations to support this expansion.

Vision for the Future: Transforming Indian Food Consumption

Co-founder and CEO Dr. Prithwi Singh envisions a 10X revenue growth over the next three years, aiming to reach Rs 2,000 crore by scaling brand presence, product innovation, and market expansion. The startup is well-positioned to meet the increasing consumer demand for healthy, transparent, and clean-label foods that prioritize nutrition without harmful chemicals.

Why Khetika Stands Out

  • Farm-to-fork transparency: Direct sourcing from thousands of farmers ensures authenticity and freshness.

  • Preservative-free products: Emphasis on natural processing methods and traditional recipes.

  • Technology integration: Advanced supply chain management and consumer traceability.

  • Strong investor backing: Support from reputed family offices and venture funds.

  • Rapid growth: Over 50% year-on-year revenue growth, with a strong foothold in both traditional retail and quick commerce.

Khetika’s journey reflects the rising trend in India towards clean-label, healthy food options, combining technology, sustainability, and tradition to deliver quality products to millions of households. With the new funding, the startup is set to scale new heights domestically and internationally, making preservative-free, authentic Indian staples accessible to a wider audience.
