Singapore-based Lighthouse Canton is steadily expanding its presence in India as the global investment firm sharpens its focus on private credit, real estate, venture debt, and alternative asset management. With more than $5 billion in assets under management and advisory globally, the firm is positioning India as one of its most important growth markets.

The company currently operates across Singapore, Dubai, India, and London, employing over 220 professionals worldwide. In India alone, Lighthouse Canton has established seven offices as it looks to strengthen its reach among startups, corporates, ultra-high-net-worth individuals, and family offices.

Lighthouse Canton Shifts Focus to In-House Asset Management

Over the last few years, Lighthouse Canton has moved away from being only a distributor of third-party investment products. Instead, the company has focused on building its own asset management platform with an emphasis on resilient and income-generating strategies.

The firm’s investment philosophy revolves around low-correlation assets that can perform independently of public market volatility. Its flagship market-neutral hedge fund strategy, LC Beacon, reportedly delivered an annualised return of 9.43% in 2024 and also received recognition at the HFM APAC performance awards.

The company is also focusing heavily on long-term income-generating investments, especially in private credit and high-yield real estate assets. Another important part of its strategy is offering different liquidity structures for investors, ranging from monthly liquidity options to long-term lock-in investment vehicles with higher return potential.

Major Push Into Indian Real Estate

Lighthouse Canton has emerged as a major player in India’s life sciences real estate sector. The company currently manages South Asia’s largest life sciences real estate platform by square footage, operating around 1.2 to 1.4 million square feet in Hyderabad.

Its expansion in the sector has been backed by a strategic capital partnership with Ivanhoé Cambridge, the real estate investment arm of Canadian pension fund La Caisse.

The firm now plans to deploy at least $500 million into Indian real estate over the next three to four years. The investment focus will remain on life sciences infrastructure, institutional logistics assets, and premium office spaces across major cities such as Bengaluru and Mumbai.

Industry experts believe institutional demand for high-quality commercial and specialised infrastructure assets in India is creating strong opportunities for global alternative investment firms like Lighthouse Canton.

Private Credit and Venture Debt Become Core Growth Areas

Private credit has become one of the strongest pillars of Lighthouse Canton’s India strategy. The company has already executed structured debt transactions worth over $2 billion across different market cycles through its investment team’s experience in alternative credit.

In May 2026, the firm launched the LC Luminere Credit Fund, a SEBI-registered Category II Alternative Investment Fund targeting a corpus of Rs 1,200 crore with a greenshoe option. The fund plans to provide senior secured structured credit to mid-sized and large corporates for acquisitions, refinancing, sponsor-led buyouts, and expansion plans.

The company is targeting high-teen returns through the fund while maintaining an average investment holding period of around three years. Apart from structured credit, Lighthouse Canton is also actively building its venture debt business in India and Southeast Asia. Its LC Venture Debt Fund focuses on growth-stage startups and provides senior-secured loans with equity upside opportunities.

The firm has already backed several well-known startups including Udaan, Groyyo, and Showroom B2B.Its early-stage focused LC Nueva AIF also attracted strong investor demand and closed at Rs 350 crore, exceeding its original target of Rs 300 crore. Through this fund, Lighthouse Canton has invested in startups such as Revfin and Internshala.

The company is now planning additional India-focused debt strategies, including a proposed Rs 250 crore momentum fund aimed at supporting high-growth portfolio companies.

Wealth Management Business Expands Across Global Markets

Beyond alternative investments, Lighthouse Canton is also strengthening its wealth management operations. The division serves ultra-high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, family offices, and corporates with services including discretionary portfolio management, estate planning, treasury solutions, and portfolio consolidation.

To improve access to private market investment opportunities for clients, the company recently partnered with Clearstream and integrated its Vestima platform into its ecosystem.

The move is expected to help clients gain easier exposure to semi-liquid and alternative investment products globally.

ESG and Responsible Investing Remain Key Priorities

Lighthouse Canton has also been increasing its focus on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices. The company became a signatory to the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment in 2023 and has implemented ESG screening processes across multiple asset classes.

The firm conducts ESG due diligence through questionnaires and KYC processes while maintaining strict risk filters in areas such as supply chain credit financing.

The company’s leadership team includes CEO Shilpi Chowdhary, Global Asset Management CEO Sanket Sinha, and India Alternatives Business Head Pranob Gupta.

With India’s alternative asset market growing rapidly, Lighthouse Canton appears to be positioning itself aggressively across private credit, venture debt, real estate, and wealth management segments for long-term expansion.
