Flexprice, an innovative open-source billing and metering platform designed specifically for AI and agentic companies, has successfully secured $500,000 (approximately Rs 4 crore) in a pre-seed funding round led by early-stage venture capital firm TDV Partners. This fresh capital injection aims to accelerate the development of Flexprice’s modular billing infrastructure catered to the emerging needs of AI-native SaaS and API-first businesses across India and globally.

Addressing the Billing Bottleneck in AI and Agentic Startup Ecosystems

The rapid rise of generative AI, API platforms, and real-time analytics has transformed monetization strategies for software companies. Over two-thirds of SaaS firms are integrating AI features, significantly increasing infrastructure costs and demanding flexible pricing models such as usage-based or hybrid billing. However, traditional legacy billing tools—built for predictable, seat-based subscription models—struggle to meet these dynamic needs.

Flexprice bridges this critical gap by offering developers a plug-and-play modular billing layer that supports various pricing models including pay-as-you-go, credits, seats, and volume tiers without requiring startups to build complex infrastructure from scratch. Key capabilities include real-time usage tracking, entitlement gating, billing logic, and analytics, thus freeing valuable engineering resources for core product innovation.

Robust Open-Source Architecture with Developer-First APIs

Flexprice’s platform is built with an open-source, self-hostable architecture that prioritizes transparency, control, and flexibility for developer teams. It integrates seamlessly with popular payment gateways like Stripe, Razorpay, and Adyen, enabling quick deployment of scalable monetization systems tailored to the AI economy’s evolving demands.

The platform’s real-time analytics dashboards provide both internal teams and customers with visibility into usage, invoices, and billing cycles, fostering trust and operational efficiency. This composable design lets Flexprice serve either as a comprehensive billing engine or a specialized metering layer, meeting diverse business requirements.

Backing and Strategic Investors from India’s Startup Ecosystem

Apart from TDV Partners leading the round, key angel investors participated, including Brij Bhushan (Co-founder of Magicpin), Gunjan Patidar, Ram Singla and Pradyot Ghate (Zomato), Sandeep Gupta (Co-founder of Innovaccer), Akash Singh (ex-Co-founder of Observe.AI), and Harshit Dwivedi (Founder of Aftershoot).

Manish Choudhary, CEO of Flexprice, emphasized the critical role of agile pricing and scalable billing in the intense AI product competition landscape, stating, “Flexprice is built to ensure pricing, packaging and billing are never a bottleneck. We built Flexprice to give developers control, flexibility, and peace of mind.”

Market Potential and Vision for the Future

The total addressable market for modern AI billing infrastructure is estimated at around $4 billion worldwide, growing steadily at a 20% CAGR. Flexprice targets over 70,000 AI-native startups globally and larger enterprises seeking to evolve their monetization models to hybrid, usage-based, or custom pricing strategies that reflect real customer value.

Co-founder and CTO Nikhil Mishra, with prior experience at Zomato, along with Koshima Satija (formerly of Magicpin and Noise), are driving product innovation with a keen focus on developer experience and open infrastructure principles. Ujwal Sutaria, General Partner at TDV Partners, noted, “Flexprice is solving a fundamental infrastructure gap in the monetization stack for AI and Agentic companies, combining an open-source-first approach with deep developer empathy.”

What This Means for Indian AI Startups and the SaaS Ecosystem

India is rapidly emerging as a critical hub for AI startups and advanced SaaS companies. Flexprice’s open-source, flexible, and scalable billing solution empowers Indian developers and startups to bypass legacy constraints and adopt modern monetization practices quickly. This investment underlines growing confidence in India’s capability to build global SaaS infrastructure platforms catering to the unique demands of the AI-first economy.

As Flexprice expands its engineering team and deepens integrations with payment gateways, its ecosystem-centric approach promises to boost efficiency, reduce time-to-market for new pricing schemes, and democratize access to billing infrastructure, fostering innovation at scale in India’s fast-growing AI and SaaS sectors.
