India’s electric mobility landscape is seeing a transformative push as EVeez, a Gurugram-based electric mobility-as-a-service startup, successfully raised $5.4 million in a Series A funding round. The round was led by the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, with additional support from prominent investors like Caret Capital, ThinKuvate, Ev2 Ventures, Barbershop With Shantanu, SailThru Ventures, and ah! Ventures Fund. This fresh capital will accelerate EVeez’s mission to provide affordable, subscription-based electric two-wheelers to India’s burgeoning gig economy workforce.
Revolutionizing Gig Economy Mobility with Subscription EVs
Founded in 2020 by Abhishek Dwivedi and Gaurav Rathore, EVeez is specifically designed to address the mobility challenges faced by delivery workers, couriers, and other gig laborers across India. Instead of high upfront costs or loans, EVeez offers flexible electric scooter subscriptions starting from just Rs 1,100 per week. These plans cover everything from insurance and battery swaps to repairs and basic EV training, ensuring hassle-free usage for workers who rely heavily on their vehicles for daily income.
Expanding Reach: From 7,000 to 50,000 Vehicles by 2027
EVeez currently operates a fleet of 7,000 electric scooters spread across 15 cities in India. With this new funding, the startup plans an ambitious expansion to 30 cities and aims to increase its fleet size to 50,000 electric two-wheelers by the fiscal year 2027. This scale-up will enable tens of thousands of gig workers to access clean, reliable, and cost-effective mobility.
Driving Financial Upliftment for Gig Workers
More than half of EVeez’s users are first-time gig workers, while the rest are transitioning from traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles. Using EVs significantly cuts down fuel and maintenance expenses, resulting in higher take-home earnings for workers. The company projects that by 2027 it will have facilitated over 40,000 gig workers to join India’s workforce, enhancing economic opportunities while promoting sustainable transportation.
Abhishek Dwivedi, Co-founder and COO of EVeez, said, “With India’s gig workforce expected to surpass 20 million soon, EVeez is strategically positioned to make electric mobility accessible and affordable for those who need it most. We are committed to greening the last mile and empowering independent workers with a scalable, low-risk vehicle subscription model.”
Backing from Impact-Focused Investors
The funding led by the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation signals strong confidence in EVeez’s social impact and business model. Prachi Windlass, who leads the foundation’s India portfolio, remarked, “EVeez is opening doors for thousands of young people in India’s booming delivery and gig economy. Their subscription model provides flexibility, increased earning potential, and access to essential benefits like insurance, putting more control in the hands of gig workers.”
Supporting India’s Sustainable Urban Delivery Future
As urban India rapidly adopts electric vehicles, EVeez’s subscription-based platform offers an innovative solution to overcome barriers such as high upfront costs and complex financing for electric two-wheelers. This makes EVs accessible to gig economy workers who constitute a significant portion of last-mile delivery fleets for platforms like Swiggy, Zomato, and Blinkit. Their model not only supports clean energy adoption but also contributes to reducing pollution and traffic congestion in cities.
