India’s fast-growing pet healthcare sector has witnessed a major development as Bengaluru-based startup Dr. Doodley has raised $3.3 million (approximately ₹30 crore) in a pre-Series A funding round. The fresh capital will support the company’s expansion plans and help strengthen its mission of delivering accessible, high-quality veterinary care across urban India.
Founded in 2023 by Utsav Bisaria and Yash Jayprakash Ladda, Dr. Doodley operates a hybrid pet healthcare model that combines vet-at-home services with physical multi-specialty pet hospitals. The startup focuses on making professional veterinary care more convenient, affordable, and transparent for modern pet parents.
Strong Investor Confidence in Pet Healthcare Segment
The funding round was led by V3 Ventures, with participation from Campus Fund, Thackersey Family Office, and several prominent angel investors. The round included a mix of equity and debt financing, highlighting growing investor confidence in India’s pet healthcare opportunity and Dr. Doodley’s scalable business model.
This investment reflects increasing interest in startups addressing lifestyle-driven needs in India, especially those catering to the rising number of households adopting pets and seeking professional care services.
Expansion of Pet Hospitals and At-Home Services
Dr. Doodley plans to utilise the newly raised funds to expand its hospital network, enhance clinical capabilities, and scale operations in key Bengaluru micro-markets. Currently, the startup operates three pet hospitals in Jayanagar, Yelahanka, and Whitefield. Over the next year, it plans to open four additional hospitals in locations such as Bellandur, Indiranagar, Rajajinagar, and North Bengaluru.
Alongside physical expansion, the company is placing strong emphasis on scaling its vet-at-home services, which allow pet owners to access qualified veterinarians within 30 minutes. This service caters particularly to emergency care and routine check-ups for pets that experience stress while travelling.
Transparent Pricing and Focus on Affordability
One of Dr. Doodley’s differentiators is its commitment to transparent and standardised pricing. The startup has introduced a flat ₹10,000 surgery pricing model, aimed at reducing uncertainty and financial anxiety often associated with pet treatments. This approach aligns with the company’s goal of making advanced veterinary care affordable without compromising on quality.
Rapid Growth and Increasing Demand
Since its launch, Dr. Doodley claims to have treated over 30,000 pets and performed more than 1,000 surgeries within a short span of time. With rising adoption of companion animals across Indian cities, demand for reliable pet healthcare services has grown sharply.
The startup currently works with a team of around 35 veterinarians and intends to further expand its clinical workforce as operations scale. Its aim is to serve over 100,000 pets in the near future.
Riding India’s Booming Pet Care Market
India’s pet care industry is evolving rapidly, driven by changing lifestyles, urbanisation, and a shift in how pets are perceived—as family members rather than property. This trend has created space for organised, tech-enabled healthcare providers like Dr. Doodley.
With fresh funding, a clear expansion roadmap, and a customer-centric approach, Dr. Doodley is well-positioned to play a significant role in shaping the future of pet healthcare in India. The startup’s growth also signals the broader maturity of the Indian pet services market, which continues to attract strong investor attention.
