Pune-based CureMeAbroad has raised USD 1.1 million in a pre-seed round led by SteerX Ventures. The healthcare-focused venture fund was joined by the company’s existing investor AIRA, according to Entrackr.
CureMeAbroad runs a platform where patients can look up a procedure and compare hospitals in different countries. They can read verified reviews and connect with specialists. The listings cover treatments such as bariatric surgery, IVF and cardiac care.
The startup was founded in June 2025 by Aditya Oza and Mikhail Bohra. It positions itself as a discovery layer for people who travel abroad for treatment.

Why patients look abroad
The price gap is easy to see. A knee replacement costs about USD 58,000 in the United States, according to numbers shared by the company. The same procedure costs roughly USD 3,000 in India. In Turkey or Thailand, it comes to between USD 3,500 and USD 4,000.

Waiting lists in countries such as the UK and Canada push patients overseas as well. An estimated 14 million people sought treatment outside their home country in 2024. The global medical tourism market is projected to reach USD 130 billion by 2030.
What the money will do
The fresh capital will go into expanding the accredited hospital network and entering new patient source markets. CureMeAbroad will also spend on its AI-led technology and on hiring for its operations and technology teams.
Its main patient markets are the US, UK, Australia and Canada. The company says it attracts more than 22,500 visitors a month. Its hospital network spans six countries, including Mexico, Thailand, Turkey, South Korea and India.
Lalit Singla is the founder and chief executive of SteerX Ventures. He said high healthcare costs and long waiting periods are pushing patients in the US, Europe and Australia to look for care across borders. He said CureMeAbroad is building the technology and infrastructure to make that journey more trusted.
Where it stands
CureMeAbroad holds a Medical Travel Facilitator certification from Global Healthcare Accreditation. That credential matters in a market where patients often struggle to verify who they are dealing with. Its network runs to more than 400 accredited hospitals, according to the accreditation body.
The company says its platform is clocking an annual patient treatment booking run rate of USD 4.8 million. It is targeting USD 100 million by FY2028. It also plans to add non-elective specialties such as orthopaedics and oncology, along with physical experience centres in key overseas markets.
It competes with platforms such as Bookimed, PlacidWay and Medical Departures, and with India’s Vaidam Health.
