Used-car marketplace CARS24 has acquired vehicle information platform CarInfo, marking an important step in its strategy to expand beyond buying and selling vehicles. With this acquisition, CARS24 aims to play a much larger role across the entire vehicle ownership journey, not just during transactions.

This is the company’s second acquisition within a short span, highlighting its intent to build a broader automotive services ecosystem for Indian consumers. The move reflects CARS24’s focus on solving everyday problems faced by vehicle owners in a market where documentation, compliance, and information access often remain fragmented.

What CarInfo Brings to the Table

CarInfo is widely used by vehicle owners across India to access essential vehicle-related details in one place. The platform allows users to check registration information, insurance and pollution certificate validity, FASTag details, pending traffic challans, and other ownership-related data. Over the years, CarInfo has built strong trust among users by offering accurate, easy-to-understand information that simplifies vehicle compliance.

Along with CarInfo, its two-wheeler-focused companion app BikeInfo is also part of the acquisition. Both platforms will continue operating independently, with their existing teams managing daily operations, ensuring continuity for millions of users who rely on these apps regularly.

Strategic Fit With CARS24’s Vision

CARS24 began its journey as a platform that helped car owners sell used vehicles to dealers. Over time, it has steadily expanded into multiple services including used-car buying, inspections, RC transfers, and financing. The acquisition of CarInfo fits naturally into this evolution.

Vehicle buying and selling is usually an occasional activity, but ownership-related needs such as checking documents, renewing insurance, or tracking challans occur far more frequently. By integrating vehicle information services, CARS24 can now stay connected with users throughout the year, rather than only during major transactions.

Deal Details and Market Impact

While the company has not officially disclosed the acquisition value, industry estimates suggest the deal could be worth around Rs 118 crore based on regulatory filings. Once formalities are completed, CarInfo is expected to become a wholly owned subsidiary of CARS24.

CarInfo currently serves over 12 million monthly active users, giving CARS24 access to a large, engaged audience that regularly interacts with vehicle data and compliance tools. This significantly strengthens CARS24’s ability to cross-sell additional services such as insurance, loans, inspections, and future digital offerings.

Enhancing the Vehicle Ownership Experience

One of the biggest challenges for Indian vehicle owners is dealing with multiple government portals and unclear compliance requirements. Missed renewals or overlooked fines often result from lack of timely information rather than intent. With CarInfo’s technology and data capabilities, CARS24 aims to reduce this friction and make vehicle ownership smoother and more transparent.

By combining transaction services with information-led solutions, the company is positioning itself as a one-stop digital destination for vehicle owners.

The Road Ahead

This acquisition signals CARS24’s ambition to become a full-stack automotive platform in India. As competition in the used-car and mobility services space intensifies, companies are increasingly focusing on retention, recurring engagement, and data-driven services.

For CARS24, bringing CarInfo into its ecosystem strengthens customer engagement, expands service depth, and supports its long-term growth goals. As the platform continues to evolve, this move could redefine how Indian consumers manage, maintain, and transact their vehicles in the years ahead.
