In a significant move to bolster India’s position in the global artificial intelligence (AI) landscape, Bhavish Aggarwal’s AI venture, Krutrim, has announced a strategic partnership with technology giant Lenovo. This collaboration aims to develop India’s largest supercomputer and introduce an advanced large language model, Krutrim 3, boasting an impressive 700 billion parameters.

The Partnership Between Krutrim and Lenovo

The partnership between Krutrim and Lenovo was unveiled at the Lenovo Tech World India 2025 event in Mumbai. Navendu Agarwal, Chief Information Officer of Ola Group, highlighted the significance of this collaboration, stating, “We are building the largest infrastructure and again very proud to say along with Lenovo, we are building the largest supercomputer of India. That will be powered in our cloud.”

Advancements in AI: Introducing Krutrim 3

Krutrim’s journey in AI development has been noteworthy. The company launched Krutrim 1, a 7-billion-parameter model, in late 2023, followed by Krutrim 2 with 12 billion parameters, both of which were open-sourced to foster innovation. The upcoming Krutrim 3 aims to scale up dramatically to 700 billion parameters, positioning India as a major contender in the global race for advanced AI development.

Investment and Infrastructure Development

This announcement aligns with Bhavish Aggarwal’s commitment to invest ₹2,000 crore in Krutrim, with plans to expand that investment to ₹10,000 crore by next year. The collaboration with Lenovo is a pivotal step towards establishing sovereign AI infrastructure in India, reducing reliance on foreign platforms and cloud providers.

A Vision for India’s AI Future

The partnership between Krutrim and Lenovo signifies a monumental step towards establishing India as a global leader in AI technology. By developing the nation’s largest supercomputer and advancing AI models like Krutrim 3, this collaboration is set to revolutionize various sectors, from manufacturing to customer service, paving the way for an AI-driven future in India.
