Anushka Sharma, Bollywood actor and producer, has invested in Bengaluru-based sportswear startup Agilitas Sports, becoming a minority shareholder in the company. The move marks an important step in Agilitas’ plans to build a strong Indian sports and lifestyle brand that can compete on a global level.
The investment comes after cricketer Virat Kohli, Sharma’s husband, also joined Agilitas as an investor and strategic partner. While the company has not revealed how much Sharma invested, her role is expected to go beyond being a celebrity face for the brand.
Anushka Sharma to Launch One8 Yoga
As part of the partnership, Anushka Sharma will help create and lead a new activewear category called “One8 Yoga.” The collection will be launched on June 21, which is celebrated as International Day of Yoga.
The new range will focus on comfort, flexibility, movement, and everyday use. According to Sharma, the products are being designed to fit easily into people’s daily routines, whether they are exercising, practising yoga, or simply looking for comfortable clothing.
This investment also shows a growing trend where celebrities are choosing to own a stake in companies instead of only promoting products through endorsement deals.
Virat Kohli’s Big Move Away from Puma
Anushka Sharma’s investment follows Virat Kohli’s major decision to partner with Agilitas Sports. Last year, Kohli ended his long association with global sportswear company Puma and chose to invest in the Indian startup instead.
Reports suggest that Kohli turned down a new endorsement deal worth around ₹300 crore from Puma. Instead, he invested ₹40 crore in Agilitas Sports and received a 1.94% stake in the company.
As part of the agreement, Kohli also transferred his lifestyle and athleisure brand One8 to Agilitas. The company now plans to turn One8 into a premium sports and fitness brand with a presence in international markets such as the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia.
Kohli is expected to play an active role in product development, branding, and important business decisions.
How Agilitas Sports Plans to Grow
Agilitas Sports was founded in 2023 by Abhishek Ganguly, former Managing Director of Puma India and South-East Asia, along with former Puma executives Amit Prabhu and Atul Bajaj.
Ganguly is known for helping Puma India grow from a small business into one of the country’s leading sportswear brands. During his time at Puma, the company’s revenue reportedly increased from around ₹20 crore to nearly ₹3,900 crore.
Agilitas is following a different strategy by controlling almost every part of its business. The company wants to manage product design, manufacturing, distribution, and retail operations under one roof. This approach gives it more control over quality, costs, and customer experience.
Because of this model, many industry experts have described Agilitas as taking an “anti-Puma” approach.
Major Acquisitions and Retail Expansion
One of Agilitas Sports’ biggest moves was the acquisition of Mochiko Shoes Pvt. Ltd. in 2023. Mochiko is one of India’s largest sports footwear manufacturers and supplies products to several international brands.
The deal gives Agilitas direct access to manufacturing facilities and production expertise. The company plans to invest further and increase Mochiko’s production capacity over the next few years.

Agilitas has also secured a 40-year exclusive licence for the Italian sportswear brand Lotto in India and Australia. The company hopes to generate around ₹1,000 crore in revenue from the brand over the next five years. It has already introduced the premium Lotto Leggenda sneaker collection.
In January 2026, Agilitas entered physical retail with the launch of SportsYard in Bengaluru. Spread across 34,000 square feet, the store offers thousands of sports products and is designed to attract sports enthusiasts while helping the company understand customer preferences.
Investors Show Strong Confidence in Agilitas
Agilitas Sports has attracted significant interest from investors since its launch. In 2023, the startup raised ₹400 crore from funds managed by Convergent Finance. Later, it secured another ₹100 crore from Nexus Venture Partners.
The company is also reportedly in talks to raise additional funding that could value the business at around $400 million.
Apart from Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma, former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh has also invested in the startup. Young cricketer Abhishek Sharma has recently become a shareholder as well.
With strong investor backing, experienced leadership, growing manufacturing capabilities, and support from high-profile sports personalities, Agilitas Sports is emerging as one of India’s most promising sportswear startups. Anushka Sharma’s investment further strengthens the company’s vision of building a global sports brand from India.
