Education entrepreneur and Aakash Institute co-founder Aakash Chaudhry, along with ISB DLabs of the Indian School of Business, has invested $500,000 (around ₹4 crore) in pre-seed funding into AI-powered career acceleration startup MU20.
The investment marks a growing interest among experienced education leaders in platforms that go beyond traditional academic preparation and focus on long-term career discovery for students. MU20 plans to use the capital to strengthen its AI technology, expand in-school programs, and deepen engagement with students across India.
Redefining Career Guidance for School Students
Founded by Tejas K. Jain and Madhur Oza, MU20 is designed to help students aged 13 to 18 navigate career exploration through a structured, multi-year journey. The platform combines artificial intelligence, university-backed clubs, and Career Incubation Labs integrated directly into schools.
Unlike conventional career counselling models that typically intervene only in classes 10 or 12, MU20 takes a continuous approach. Its AI-native mentor supports students year-round by helping them explore career paths, build portfolios, identify real-world opportunities, and develop clarity on their interests at an early stage.
The startup works across diverse domains such as entrepreneurship, artificial intelligence, policy, research, design, and emerging technologies, allowing students to experience various fields before committing to a specific academic or professional path.
Vision Backed by Education Leaders
Aakash Chaudhry, known for building Aakash Institute into one of India’s most trusted education brands, emphasized the importance of early career discovery. According to him, adolescence is a critical period when students’ cognitive abilities are highly adaptable, making it the ideal time to expose them to structured exploration rather than last-minute decision-making.
ISB DLabs, the innovation and incubation arm of the Indian School of Business, has also played a crucial role in supporting MU20’s early-stage development. Its involvement has helped the startup refine its product strategy, align market needs, and prepare for scalable growth.
Strong School Network and Expansion Plans
MU20 claims to have already partnered with more than 300 schools across the country and engaged with tens of thousands of students through workshops, summits, and challenge-based learning programs. With the new funding, the startup aims to move beyond pilot initiatives and build a scalable AI-first platform that can be adopted by schools across metros and tier-2 cities alike.
The company also plans to invest in product enhancements that enable deeper personalisation for students, ensuring that career pathways are tailored to individual strengths, interests, and learning styles.
Growing Focus on Career-Focused Edtech
The investment highlights a broader shift in India’s edtech ecosystem, where founders and investors are increasingly focusing on career readiness rather than exam preparation alone. As competition for global universities and future-ready roles intensifies, platforms offering early exposure, skill-building, and practical experience are gaining relevance.
With experienced backers, strong institutional support, and a clear focus on AI-powered personalisation, MU20 is positioning itself as a promising player in India’s evolving student career guidance space.
As education continues to move toward holistic and outcome-driven learning, MU20’s approach signals a meaningful step toward preparing Indian students for careers of the future.
