A teenage founder builds SAMMMM
At 16, Samara Roy is building a beauty business while continuing to balance school and work. In June 2025, she launched SAMMMM with her father, Mantosh Roy, and Rishi Seth. Mantosh Roy is a former vice-president at Nykaa, as is Seth. The company’s first product was a pH-reactive lip tint aimed at Gen Z and Gen Alpha. The product placed the brand in the beauty category, with a clear focus on younger consumers. Roy’s age is also central to her experience of building the business. She has identified being taken seriously as a teenager as her biggest challenge.
Seed funding and bridge rounds
SAMMMM’s seed round was led by Fireside Ventures and Sauce VC. The funding was reported at about Rs 10 crore. The company has completed four bridge rounds since its seed financing. These rounds mark further fundraising after the initial investment, though their amounts have not been provided. The seed investors and subsequent bridge rounds form the funding details available for the young brand. Roy launched the company alongside experienced Nykaa executives, bringing her father and Seth into the venture.

Sales across three channels
SAMMMM sells through its own website, Amazon and Nykaa. Close to 1,00,000 units have been sold across those channels. At launch, the company sold one unit every two minutes. That launch pace offers an early measure of consumer purchases for the brand. Quarterly gross sales grew about 17 times between July-September 2025 and April-June 2026. Mantosh Roy provided the comparison, describing growth across those two periods. The figure concerns gross sales, rather than a disclosed profit measure. The available sales information covers both the launch pace and later quarterly growth. It also brings together purchases made across the company’s three sales channels.

Work alongside school
Roy is balancing the demands of school with her work at SAMMMM. The company launched while she was 16, and she continues to manage both commitments. Her biggest challenge, she has said, is not being taken seriously as a teenager. That concern is part of her experience as the founder of a business built for younger consumers. Her father and Seth bring previous senior experience at Nykaa to the venture. The first product, funding rounds and sales figures offer measurable details of SAMMMM’s progress. Roy’s account also puts the demands of her age and schedule into view. For the founder, growing the brand means working while continuing her education.
