Since its inception in 2017, the Uboontu Foundation has quietly but steadily grown into a powerful example of how local action can drive environmental and social transformation. Rooted in the African philosophy of “humanity towards others,” the organization has been working at the intersection of waste management, education, and sustainable living.
Led by Founder and CEO Tanmay Sharma and Director Manoj Kumar, Uboontu Foundation has been instrumental in implementing hands-on, community-focused initiatives that promote responsible waste disposal, segregation, and circular economy practices.
In recent months, the foundation has intensified its outreach efforts. A notable initiative was a training session conducted for kitchen staff at Quality Inn Hotel in Gurgaon, focusing on source segregation of waste. This practical training aimed to build everyday environmental habits in the hospitality sector—often an overlooked contributor to urban waste.
Furthering its commitment to sustainability in commercial spaces, Uboontu Foundation partnered with DLF Mall to showcase how waste can be transformed into useful products. Recycled pens and A4 sheets—made from materials collected within the mall itself—were distributed to the management team, highlighting a tangible model of circular economy in action.
One of the most impactful drives in recent times has been the Manbhar Swach waste collection campaign, supported by HMEL. The drive not only improved community waste segregation habits but also energized local participation, turning passive residents into active contributors to cleaner neighborhoods.
Education remains at the heart of Uboontu’s strategy. Under the same initiative, the foundation conducted a series of waste segregation awareness sessions for children and local communities. Through demonstrations and interactive sessions, participants learned how everyday choices impact the environment—and how simple habits can lead to lasting change.
With several upcoming projects in the pipeline, Uboontu Foundation continues to underscore the importance of collective responsibility and grassroots action in tackling environmental challenges. Its model of engaging communities directly—especially at the source of waste generation—presents a replicable approach for urban sustainability efforts across India.
