Rebel Foods, the cloud kitchen unicorn behind brands like Faasos, Behrouz Biryani, and Oven Story Pizza, is redefining the food industry. Co-founder and CEO Ankush Grover declared at Rajasthan IT Day 2025 that Rebel Foods is not aiming to be the “Uber or Airbnb of India” but a global role model for startups.
“Today, we operate 350 kitchens across 70 Indian cities, serving 2.5 lakh orders daily. Internationally, we have expanded to Dubai and the UK with over 27 kitchens,” Grover said. The company employs nearly 9,000 people and is preparing for an IPO next year.
From Rolls to Revolution: The Journey of Rebel Foods
Rebel Foods began its journey with Faasos but pivoted into cloud kitchens after realizing most customers hadn’t visited their physical stores. This led to the launch of dedicated brands for specific cuisines. Today, the company operates over 45 brands globally and has even ventured into offline stores in select locations.
Rapid Expansion with Wendy’s and Beyond
Rebel Foods has been scaling its partner brands at record speed. As the master franchisee of Wendy’s in India, it opened 200 outlets in just 38 months—far faster than Domino’s initial growth in the country. The company plans to expand Wendy’s footprint to 500 outlets within three years.
Financial Growth Amid Challenges
Despite challenges in the food delivery sector, Rebel Foods has managed to grow its revenue by 19% to ₹1,420 crore in FY24 while reducing net losses by 42%. This growth is attributed to controlled expenses and innovative strategies like its quick delivery service, QuickiES, which promises food delivery within 15 minutes.
Technology at the Core of Quality
Rebel Foods leverages advanced technology to maintain food quality across its kitchens. Tools like CCTV monitoring and temperature controls ensure consistency and traceability. “Quality is paramount because food is something we consume directly,” Grover emphasized.
A Vision for Global Dominance
With plans to scale up to 700 kitchens by 2028 and expand into Southeast Asia and Europe, Rebel Foods aims to become a global foodtech powerhouse. Its innovative “brand-as-a-service” model allows local restaurants worldwide to partner with Rebel’s established brands for mutual growth.
