UGC NET Exam: New Dates Released for UGC NET Exam

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has recently announced the revised schedule for the UGC NET Exam, which was initially postponed from January 15, 2025. The new dates set for this important examination are January 21 and January 27, 2025. This year, the UGC NET exam, critical for aspirants aiming for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship positions, will now be conducted over two days instead of one. The NTA is expected to release the admit cards for the examinations soon.

New Exam Schedule for UGC NET January 2025

The UGC NET examinations will follow this revised schedule:

Why Was the Exam Postponed?

The postponement of the UGC NET December 2024 exam, originally scheduled for January 15, 2025, was due to the Pongal and Makar Sankranti festivals. According to an official notice from the NTA, the decision was made to ensure minimal conflict with these significant cultural events. However, the exam on January 16 remains unaffected and will proceed as planned.

About UGC NET Examination

The UGC NET or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test is conducted twice a year, in June and December, to determine eligibility for Assistant Professor and Junior Research Fellowship positions in Indian universities and colleges. The UGC NET certificate for Junior Research Fellowship is valid for three years, whereas the Assistant Professor/ Lecturer certificate is valid for life.

Application Process and Important Dates

The UGC NET exam covers a total of 85 subjects, and this year’s examination process commenced on January 3, 2025, with the last exam now set for January 27, 2025. Candidates are encouraged to prepare thoroughly and stay updated on any further announcements regarding admit cards and exam-related notifications.
