A quiet revolution is underway in the tri-city region of Chandigarh, Mohali, and Panchkula. A new mobile app, Workerlly, is bringing hope and dignity to gig workers. Since its launch in March 2025, the app has quickly gained popularity, crossing 1,000 downloads, serving over 1,500 customers, and empowering more than 200 gig workers.
The Vision: Dignity and Better Earnings for Informal Workers
Workerlly was created to address the challenges faced by India’s 450 million informal sector workers. Many gig workers, such as maids, drivers, plumbers, and electricians, have long struggled with rigid schedules and low pay. Workerlly aims to change this by offering a platform where workers can choose their hours, bid for jobs, and earn fair wages.
How Workerlly Works: Flexibility and Fairness
Workerlly operates through two simple mobile apps- one for customers and one for workers. Workers create Aadhar-verified profiles, receive instant job notifications, and bid for assignments in real time. The app’s bidding system lets workers negotiate rates within city-specific limits, ensuring fairness for all.
Key Features:
- Aadhar-verified worker profiles
- Real-time job notifications and bidding
- Flexible schedules and hourly payments
- Transparent pricing and real-time tracking for customers
Impact: Income Boost and Empowerment
The app is already making a difference. Workers using Workerlly now earn between ₹25,000 and ₹35,000 per month, compared to the usual earnings of less than ₹20,000. The platform supports a wide range of roles, from cleaners and gardeners to electricians and drivers, giving them more control over their work and income.
Customers also benefit from affordable, transparent services and the peace of mind that comes with verified workers.
Overcoming Challenges in a Crowded Market
Building Workerlly was not easy. Creating brand awareness in a market full of established players required creative marketing and community outreach. Onboarding workers who were new to digital platforms meant running training programs and building trust step by step.
Managing finances as a bootstrapped startup and hiring skilled talent in Panchkula were also challenges. But with dedication and smart planning, Workerlly achieved a successful launch and rapid growth.
Future Plans: Rapid Expansion and New Services
Workerly has big plans for the future. The company will soon expand to Delhi-NCR, followed by Bangalore, Pune, and Mumbai by the end of the year. There are also plans for international expansion, especially to the Middle East, within three years.
Upcoming Phases:
- Phase 2: Adding skilled professionals like tutors, graphic designers, chefs, and gym trainers
- Phase 3: Including highly-skilled workers such as IT professionals, architects, doctors, and lawyers for remote support
The platform will also introduce B2B services, allowing companies to hire workers for large projects.
A Movement for Social Upliftment
Workerlly is more than just an app. It’s a movement to organize the unorganized gig market and uplift millions of workers. With new government policies supporting gig workers, the timing is perfect for platforms like Workerlly to lead the change.
