Mumbai-based e-pharmacy and telehealth platform Truemeds has closed a massive $85 million Series C funding round led by Accel and Peak XV Partners, with support from WestBridge Capital and Info Edge Ventures. This round includes $65 million in primary capital and $20 million in secondary transactions, providing exits for early investors.
Expansion Plans: More Reach, Lower Prices
Founded in 2019 by Akshat Nayyar and Dr Kunal Wani, Truemeds is now set for rapid expansion. With this infusion, the company will triple its footprint across India by growing fulfillment centers from 19 to 50 within a year. Special attention will be given to Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, bridging the affordability gap in non-metro regions.
Truemeds will also open a large technology hub in Bengaluru and hire aggressively for engineering and product roles. The platform plans to roll out diagnostic services in four pilot cities, making healthcare even more accessible for chronic patients.
Technology-Driven Medication Savings
The core of Truemeds is its commitment to the lowest prices for medicine with trusted quality. By leveraging technology and a robust recommendation algorithm, Truemeds helps users save 50–70% on their monthly medicine bills. The platform mainly targets chronic conditions like diabetes, hypertension, and heart diseases—fields where continuous, affordable care matters most.
Truemeds already processes about 600,000 orders monthly and engages nearly 600 doctors every day. A new iOS app and upcoming diagnostic services are expected to reach even more Indians.
Investor Confidence in Affordable Chronic Care
Accel’s Abhinav Chaturvedi praised Truemeds’ approach: “India’s healthcare market is changing swiftly. Affordability is a major challenge, especially for patients with chronic illnesses. Truemeds bridges this gap with a transparent, tech-driven platform built for scale.”
Peak XV’s Sakshi Chopra added, “Truemeds’ mission to make chronic care affordable for millions, especially beyond metros, is transformative and timely. Their technology delivers a seamless experience and ensures essential medicines reach those in need.”
Indian Patients Win Big
With over 400 million chronic patients in India, Truemeds is redefining how medicines reach people in need. The company promises quality, honest pricing, and smart customer support for all age groups.
Indians in smaller cities and towns can now access world-class healthcare, from essential medicines to diagnostic services, without breaking the bank. This is Bharat-first innovation, making healthcare smarter and fairer for every Indian family.
