BHARUCH, GUJARAT — Behind the rapid expansion of AADIJAY® across Gujarat lies a story far removed from the polished narratives often associated with entrepreneurship. Founder Amit B Choudhury has now opened up about the most difficult phase of the company’s journey — a period marked by financial collapse, emotional exhaustion, and a moment that nearly ended everything.

After leaving a decade-long career in banking to build AADIJAY®, Amit entered a phase where the young business struggled to survive. Capital was scarce, operational pressure mounted daily, and the emotional aftermath of his exit from the banking industry continued to weigh heavily on him and his family.

What followed was a series of sacrifices that Amit and his wife, Kousika, never imagined they would have to make.

The family sold nearly everything they owned to keep the company alive — a residential flat, vehicles, plots, shops, personal savings accumulated over years, and even Kousika’s jewellery, including her mangalsutra and ornaments gifted to their son.

“We did not sell these things easily,” Amit recalls. “Each one was a decision that took something from us that we cannot name.”

Despite the sacrifices, the pressure became overwhelming. Amit and Kousika eventually found themselves standing on the Narmada bridge in Bharuch one night, unable to see a path forward.

The turning point came through Amit’s mother, Sunita Mohapatra, who stepped in at the darkest moment. Refusing to let the dream collapse, she took charge of operations and helped revive the struggling business.

“AADIJAY® was rebuilt not by funding or strategy first, but by family,” Amit says. “My mother refused to let us give up.”

From that moment of crisis, the company slowly rebuilt itself. Today, AADIJAY® has expanded to more than 300 outlets across Gujarat — a growth story that Amit says was born only after surviving complete collapse.

He now shares this chapter publicly not for sympathy, but to offer solidarity to other entrepreneurs facing unseen battles.

“Every founder who is struggling believes they are alone,” Amit says. “I want them to know that the person who built 300+ outlets once stood on a bridge with nothing — and came back.”

Today, the Narmada still flows beneath that bridge, while AADIJAY® continues to grow above it.
