India’s climate technology ecosystem has received a fresh boost as Aurassure, a Bhubaneswar-based climatetech startup, raised ₹25 crore in a pre-Series A funding round. The investment was led by Rainmatter, the venture capital arm backed by Zerodha, along with Unicorn India Ventures. The round also saw participation from Maithan Alloys Limited. This funding marks a key step in Aurassure’s journey as it looks to scale its climate intelligence solutions across India and international markets.

Founded in 2022 by entrepreneur Akanksha Priyadarshini, Aurassure works at the intersection of climate science, data analytics, and technology. The startup focuses on delivering real-time, hyperlocal environmental intelligence that helps businesses and public institutions understand and respond to climate risks. As extreme weather events become more frequent, the demand for precise and timely climate data is growing rapidly, especially in developing economies.

Building Hyperlocal Climate Intelligence

Aurassure has built a vertically integrated climate intelligence platform that converts raw environmental data into actionable insights. The company operates a dense network of over 2,000 street-level sensors deployed across several cities. These sensors track a wide range of parameters including air quality, heat stress, temperature changes, rainfall patterns, water levels, wind conditions, and flood risks.

By collecting data at a hyperlocal level, Aurassure helps users move beyond broad weather forecasts. Its platform offers early warnings, predictive alerts, and risk indicators that can support day-to-day operational decisions. This level of detail is especially valuable for urban authorities, infrastructure companies, and enterprises that are directly exposed to climate variability.

How the Fresh Funding Will Be Used

The newly raised capital will be used to accelerate Aurassure’s expansion plans and strengthen its technology stack. A significant portion of the funds will go towards scaling sensor deployments in more cities and enhancing the company’s climate analytics platform. Aurassure also plans to invest in advanced AI-driven predictive models, cloud-based analytics, and improved data visualisation tools.

Alongside software development, the startup is focusing on hardware innovation. This includes building more accurate and cost-effective environmental sensors and expanding its manufacturing capabilities to support large-scale deployments.

Expanding Beyond India

While India remains a key market, Aurassure is also looking beyond domestic borders. The company has already established a presence in international markets, particularly in Brazil, where it operates through a subsidiary with deployments across more than 100 cities. Early projects have also begun in other parts of South Asia.

With the support of Rainmatter and Unicorn India Ventures, Aurassure aims to deepen its footprint across the Global South. These regions often face severe climate challenges but lack access to reliable, localised climate data. Aurassure sees this gap as a major opportunity to deliver impact at scale.

Addressing a Growing Climate Challenge

Climate monitoring and risk assessment remain under-developed in many parts of the world. Most existing systems rely on sparse data points, making it difficult to capture conditions at a neighbourhood or street level. Aurassure’s approach bridges this gap by combining dense sensor networks with intelligent analytics.

According to the company, climate intelligence is no longer a “nice-to-have” feature. For businesses and governments alike, it has become a necessity to manage risks related to pollution, heatwaves, flooding, and unpredictable weather patterns.

A Long-Term Vision for Climate Resilience

Looking ahead, Aurassure plans to expand its deployments to hundreds of cities over the next few years. The startup is also working towards deeper collaborations with government agencies, research organisations, and private enterprises to improve climate preparedness and resilience.

The investment by Rainmatter and Unicorn India Ventures highlights the rising interest among Indian investors in climate-focused startups that combine strong technology with real-world impact. As climate risks intensify, Aurassure is positioning itself as a key player in providing reliable, actionable climate intelligence for a more resilient future.
