Collins Aerospace, a part of RTX Corporation, has taken a major step toward strengthening its presence in India’s aviation ecosystem by opening a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Bengaluru. With an investment of ₹880 crore, the company aims to transform the city into a global hub for aerospace innovation, advanced manufacturing, and sustainable engineering. The facility is located at the KIADB Aerospace Park in Devanahalli, covering 26 acres of land and marking one of the company’s largest investments in India to date.
High-Tech Facility Driving Aerospace Innovation
The new 1.25 lakh sq. ft. facility represents the future of aerospace manufacturing in India. It will produce more than 70 different aerospace products that include aircraft seats, lighting systems, sensors, evacuation slides, and water systems. Collins Aerospace has integrated Industry 4.0 technologies such as robotics, artificial intelligence, and 3D printing to enhance precision and efficiency in production. The factory is designed to serve both domestic and global aviation markets, providing components that will go into commercial and defense aircraft across the world.
This advanced unit will help the company streamline operations and improve its supply chain, while also expanding its capacity to meet rising demand for aircraft components. The plant’s digital infrastructure allows real-time tracking, automated quality checks, and predictive maintenance, ensuring that each part manufactured meets the highest safety and performance standards.
Sustainability at the Core of Design
Collins Aerospace’s new facility in Bengaluru is not just technologically advanced but also environmentally conscious. The plant has received LEED Silver and IGBC Silver certifications, highlighting its commitment to green manufacturing and energy-efficient operations. It uses renewable energy sources, smart lighting, and water recycling systems to minimize its environmental footprint. The company’s goal is to combine innovation with responsibility, setting new benchmarks for sustainable aerospace production in India.
The facility also focuses on the well-being of its employees, offering a modern workspace with high safety standards and comfortable amenities. By 2026, the company plans to employ over 2,200 professionals at the site, creating opportunities for skilled engineers, technicians, and operators in Karnataka.
Strengthening India’s Aerospace Vision
Bengaluru, often called the aerospace capital of India, has seen rapid growth in the aviation and defense sector. The opening of this facility aligns perfectly with India’s “Make in India” and “Aatmanirbhar Bharat” missions, which promote domestic manufacturing and innovation. For Collins Aerospace, this marks a major milestone as it continues to expand its global footprint while leveraging India’s engineering talent and manufacturing capabilities. The company already employs over 6,500 people across multiple locations in the country, and this new addition further reinforces its long-term commitment to India’s aerospace ecosystem.
A Milestone for the Skies
The new Bengaluru plant is more than just a manufacturing site—it’s a hub of innovation where technology, talent, and sustainability come together. For the local community, it means new jobs and upskilling opportunities. For India, it represents progress toward becoming a world leader in advanced aerospace manufacturing. And for Collins Aerospace, it marks a bold step toward shaping the future of global aviation from the heart of India.
