Harajuku Tokyo Cafe has bagged ₹19 crore in its latest seed funding round. This popular Japanese restaurant chain is now ready to spread its vibrant dining experience to more Indian cities.
Who Invested in Harajuku Tokyo Cafe and What’s Next?
The funding round was led by Indian Angel Network (IAN). Samved VC, LetsVenture, and Capitar Ventures also joined in. With fresh capital, Harajuku Tokyo Cafe will scale operations, strengthen its kitchens, and reach new diners. The aim is clear – 90 outlets in 20 cities by 2027.
From Delhi NCR to Mumbai
Founded in 2021 by Gaurav Kanwar, Harajuku Tokyo Cafe started in Delhi NCR. It recently set up shop in Mumbai’s Jio World Drive, and people have welcomed it with open arms. Today, seven outlets serve a wide range of Japanese food – from jiggly pancakes to ramen and conveyor-belt sushi.
Solid Team and Smart Model
The brand operates through two formats: a full-service cafe and a quick-service bakehouse. A central kitchen in Delhi NCR ensures that every plate is consistent and fresh. Renowned Japanese chefs Asami Indo and Nariaki Higuchi guide menu designs, keeping the flavors authentic.
Plans for Bigger Growth
Annual recurring revenue has already crossed ₹30 crore. Letters of intent have been signed for 15 new locations in Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Ludhiana, and Chandigarh. The company aims for ₹200 crore in revenue by 2027.
Going Beyond Restaurants
Harajuku Tokyo Cafe isn’t stopping at dine-in spaces. Its new D2C brand, KoiKoi Essentials, will offer ramen kits, sauces, and frozen meals across India. International franchises in the UAE are also on the radar.
Unique Experience for Indian Families
Each café brings Tokyo’s playful spirit alive. Expect manga libraries, robot DJs, and Instagram-ready desserts. Harajuku wants every visitor to discover Japanese food in a friendly, modern way.
Why It Matters
Japanese cuisine is growing fast in India’s ₹51 billion food industry. Harajuku Tokyo Cafe wants every family, student, and foodie to make Japanese food a regular treat.
Looking Ahead
With new funding and big plans, Harajuku Tokyo Cafe could soon become the first name that comes to mind when Indians think of Japanese food. The future is bright and delicious.
