This new initiative signals a strong commitment to making North Karnataka a technology powerhouse and brings fresh opportunities for the region’s youth.

Hubballi Joins Infosys’ Global Living Labs Network

This new centre is a key part of ‘Infosys Living Labs’—a network of over 12 global innovation centres. Living Labs are dedicated to helping clients accelerate their transformation by leveraging next-generation technologies like artificial intelligence, cloud, and cybersecurity. Hubballi now stands shoulder-to-shoulder with leading tech cities around the world, serving clients across manufacturing, finance, retail, and healthcare.

Special Focus: AI, Cybersecurity, and Space Tech

The centre’s focus extends beyond conventional IT, venturing into fields like AI, cloud computing, cybersecurity, engineering services, SAP, and—putting Hubballi on the map—space technology. The goal is to empower businesses worldwide with smart, secure digital solutions while nurturing India’s own advanced technology ecosystem.

Driving Innovation with Academia

Infosys has built strong collaborations with top institutions in the region, such as IIIT Dharwad and KLE Technological University. This partnership will foster talent development, drive research-based innovation, and bridge the industry-academia gap. Already, Infosys has issued hundreds of campus placements to local engineering students, a clear sign that the company is deeply invested in regional growth.

Inauguration: A High-Profile Event

The centre’s inauguration was attended by top dignitaries, including MB Patil, Karnataka’s Minister for Large & Medium Industries and Infrastructure Development, and Priyank Kharge, Minister for Electronics, IT & Biotechnology, and Rural Development & Panchayat Raj. Senior Infosys executives, including Executive Vice Presidents Sunil Kumar Dhareshwar and Rajneesh Malviya, also marked the occasion with their presence.

Strong Statements from Leaders

Minister MB Patil praised Infosys for expanding its presence in North Karnataka and creating important jobs. He called on the company to consider growing in other cities of the region, too. Minister Kharge highlighted the centre’s role in building an innovation-driven economy and positioning Hubballi as a vital tech contributor for Karnataka’s future.

Infosys EVP Sunil Kumar Dhareshwar emphasised the AI-first strategy of the new centre: “With world-class infrastructure and an AI-driven approach, this centre will not just address client needs but also fuel widespread innovation and job creation locally”.

The Road Ahead

With over 1,000 employees already at the Hubballi DC, this launch represents a big milestone for Infosys and North Karnataka. The centre will provide vital career opportunities for local talent while supporting global clients with cutting-edge digital solutions. Infosys’ deep ties with regional institutions ensure a strong innovation pipeline for years to come.
