Pune – The event ‘Geet Tujhe Smartana, Shatjanma Shodhtana,’ organized by SAB Events and D Verb Theatres, took place at Keshavbaug and received an overwhelming response. The program was graced by the esteemed presence of Hon. Sunetra Pawar (MP), Dr. Revati Bhamre from SAB Events, and several other dignitaries.
During this memorable evening, a collection of timeless songs was performed, including “Dhundi Kalyana,” “Kausalyecha Ram,” “Shukratara Mandwara,” “Padaravarati Jartaricha,” and “Saptapadi Hi Roz Chalte.” These classics, deeply embedded in Marathi culture, were brought to life once again for the audience.
The year 1932 marked the birth of Marathi film music, and in the span of just fifty years, legends like G.D. Madgulkar, Sudhir Phadke, P.L. Deshpande, Ram Kadam, Vasant Prabhu, Jagdish Khebudkar, and Shanta Shelke contributed immensely to its evolution. These songs have since become an inseparable part of Marathi hearts, continuing to resonate across generations. “It was a joy to reintroduce these cherished songs to our fans,” shared Devendra Bhome, the director and music arranger of the event.
Actress and poet Spruha Joshi, along with Gautami Deshpande, narrated the program. The performances were by talented artists including Jaideep Vaidya, Shamika Bhide, Mukta Joshi, Ashutosh Mungle, Bhushan Marathe, Nidhi Ghate, Ishita Savale, Namrata Limaye, Arnav Joshi, Ketan Pawar, Nitin Shinde, and Dhaval Joshi.
