Shahrukh Khan: Not Just Mannat, This Was Shahrukh Khan's First Home, with a Special Connection to Rajesh Khanna

Shahrukh Khan, often hailed as the ‘King of Bollywood,’ resides in the iconic ‘Mannat’ mansion in Bandra, Mumbai, with his wife Gauri Khan and their children Aryan, Suhana, and AbRam. While ‘Mannat’ is a symbol of luxury and fame, it wasn’t his first home in Mumbai. Recently, there has been buzz on social media about potential redevelopment in certain buildings, which led to widespread speculation regarding ‘Mannat.’ However, the truth relates to Shahrukh’s very first property, ‘Shri Amrut,’ highlighting a significant chapter in his journey as a superstar.

From Friend’s Flat to Home Ownership

When Shahrukh and Gauri moved to Mumbai after their wedding, they initially stayed with friends. They were on the lookout for their place to call home. Eventually, they discovered a 3BHK apartment on the 7th floor of ‘Shri Amrut’ building located on Carter Road in Bandra. The couple fell in love with this flat, but the price tag of ₹40 lakhs seemed daunting at the time. To make this dream a reality, Shahrukh reached out to the producer of his film ‘Gudddu’ and secured the amount needed to purchase his first flat in Mumbai.

A Special Connection with Rajesh Khanna

Shahrukh Khan’s initial home holds a unique connection with Bollywood legend Rajesh Khanna. Reports suggest that he purchased this flat through Rajesh Khanna’s maternal uncle, A.K. Talwar. In 1995, after acquiring the flat, Shahrukh later invested in a bungalow in the same vicinity on Carter Road worth ₹13 crores, which he had been eyeing since 1997. This bungalow was revamped and has since become known as ‘Mannat.’

Memories Made in Amrut Building

Although the rumors regarding the redevelopment of the Amrut building have not been officially confirmed, it is laden with memories for Shahrukh Khan. After moving to ‘Mannat,’ he decided to retain the flat as it held sentimental value. This place served as the backdrop for his early dreams and ambitions in the film industry, marking it as a lucky charm that he has never sold since then.

Legacy of Shahrukh Khan’s First Home

Shhrukh Khan’s journey from ‘Shri Amrut’ to ‘Mannat’ underscores the evolution of a global icon. Every corner of his initial home holds stories that reflect his humble beginnings and soaring success. Today, ‘Mannat’ not only symbolizes luxury but also represents the dreams and aspirations of countless fans who look up to the King Khan as a beacon of success in Bollywood.

As Shahrukh continues to enthrall audiences worldwide, his first home serves as a reminder that every great journey begins with a single step, or in his case, a flat in Bandra.
