This achievement marks a significant milestone, as it’s the first time an Indian higher education institution has attained such a position based on subject-specific rankings.

This year, a total of 53 Indian universities were recognized among the world’s top institutions in the field of computer science, a substantial increase from 47 last year. The leading university, Oxford, was followed by prestigious institutions such as Cambridge University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). In the disciplines of business and economics, 24 Indian higher education institutions made it onto the list, up from 15 in 2024. Additionally, 14 Indian universities maintained their presence in the top ranks for social sciences, mirroring their previous year’s performance.

Notably, Stanford, Harvard, and Cambridge are the only institutions to feature in the top 10 across all 11 subjects listed in the rankings. America continues to dominate the top 10 lists across all categories, further solidifying its reputation for academic excellence.
